2008 model year
Changes for the '08 model year include different colors (a yellow/orange, bright blue, charcoal grey, silver, and at least on the ADV model, bright red) a different style of cast wheels, more HP (up 5%) and a slightly more angular look.
2005 model year
For the 2005 model year, BMW has completely updated the oilhead GS series with the new R1200GS. 30kg lighter, 100hp (up from 85hp), 8% better fuel economy, a 6-speed gearbox with a usable 6th gear (not an "overdrive/economy" gear as with the R1150GS), a computer controlled "single wire" wiring harness, a choice of cast or wire wheels, among other changes. Here are some photos from the BMW Press Kit:

Rock red, with gray gastank panels

Ocean blue, with gray gastank panels

Desert yellow, with gray gastank panels

Standard, they come with these cast wheels

These wire wheels are an option

The rear hub with large hollow axle. It appears the BMW is making heavy use of Torx™ fittings.

Left and right handlebar switches

The dash -- note the tapered steel handlebars

The asymmetric headlights are now oval and siamesed together

The optional luggage, which expands when needed

Almost every part visible in this photo is different from the R1100GS/R1150GS.

The oval headlight and distinctive windscreen shape identify this as an R1200GS
